Monday 3rd August

It is with much regret that we have to inform you that today we have been contacted by New Bridge School and due to Covid 19 social distancing restrictions in the changing areas we will not be reopening the swim school at the new bridge school site in September as originally planned. This situation is under constant review and it is hoped we can resume lessons again in 2021.

As I am sure you will understand this situation is not what we had hoped for and certainly not what we were expecting from September.  We have enjoyed 15 years partnership with New Bridge and I see no reason why this partnership cannot continue in the future, but for the moment the safety of everyone who attends the site is of paramount importance hence the decision for this site to remain closed.

I can confirm that Wright Robinson site will reopen in September as planned and we are now in talks with them to increase our water time to enable us to offer lessons for all abilities at this site., Existing clients will be contacted in due course regarding re-structured classes and new lesson programmes.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you all very soon

Best Wishes

Thursday 9th July

Hi Folks this was fantastic news to hear that Swimming Pools can be allowed to re-open from 25th July 2020.

A re-opening date of 25th July falls inside our “summer holidays” and as such it is our intention to re start lessons as soon as possible.

Whilst the most obvious date for us to recommence would be September 9th (which is the intended start date of our next term) this date is under review until we have had opportunity to survey both our sites and make sure that they are fully compliant with new guidelines and regulations.

With immediate effect I will now be putting plans together to get us back up and running as soon as possible.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you all very soon

Best Wishes

Swimming Update from Barrie and the Team

Hi Folks just a quick update –

We were all disappointed to hear that Boris has decided to keep swimming pools closed for the foreseeable future,  having had interaction with the STA this morning they are actively chasing the government for the reasons behind this decision.

As soon as we have further updates we will post them here.

Meanwhile please take a moment to sign the “reopen swimming pools in England” petition (link is below) and hopefully we will be back soon.

Best wishes

Swimming Update from Barrie and the Team

Hi folks hope you are all keeping safe, well and getting through the craziest of times !

Since we closed back on 15th March we have been in constant contact with STA (Swimming Teachers Association), Swim England, New Bridge School, Wright Robinson School and our friends and colleagues in other swim schools trying to establish when we can return to our lessons.  As you are aware information in general is in short supply and at the moment we are waiting for the government to publish the guidelines on leisure activities and more importantly swimming.

As some of you may remember just before we closed we were awarded the STA Gold Swim Star Accreditation for our lessons, this was a fantastic achievement and credit to the hard work of all the members of our team and of course the willing participation (most of the time !) of our swimmers.   I am delighted to announce that as part of this award we have been invited by the STA to join other Gold Star Swim Schools to form a working group to help build a plan to get everyone back in the water as soon as possible.

Social distancing is the main issue for 90% of businesses and we are no exception but, until the government issues clear guidelines we cannot even begin to plan our return to the water.   Yesterday I took part in a radio interview which outlined some of the concerns and issues that will face all swim schools moving forward, presently this is a “gloomy” picture and I am expecting no return for our lesson until September at the earliest.

We have always tried to excel in every aspect of our lessons and coronavirus cannot and will not change this attitude to our swimmers and our classes.   We have a “Gold Star” accredited team here at Taylors who I believe have the knowledge and know how to deal with any issues that will face us moving forward, rest assured as soon as we have our masterplan we will be back doing what we do best at both of our sites.

Until such times please stay safe.

Best wishes

Swimming Update from STA

Dear Barrie,

I hope you all are continuing to stay safe and well at this difficult time.

In response to the many questions I have been receiving lately from swim schools asking for official guidance in preparation for when swimming pools re-open, I wanted to write and confirm that we are looking at many different scenarios with regards to social distancing and safeguarding, but as a governing body, we, like all other leisure related associations, are not in a position at this time to issue official advice.

Like you, we cannot wait until swimming pools re-open, but it would not be appropriate for us to second-guess what measures need to be put in place until the UK Government lifts lockdown restrictions and confirms its position on social distancing rules for the leisure industry. There are so many unknowns at this time, so until we have further clarification from the Government on what rules might be relaxed, it would be unfair to confuse matters by issuing speculative advice.

This morning, Boris Johnson positively confirmed that “the UK is beginning to turn the tide but no changes to lockdown yet”, so let’s hope we hear more over the coming days / weeks, so we can all get back to doing the jobs we love so much.

Until this time, we must continue to adhere to the rules, which clearly state that all swimming pools must remain closed – this includes indoor and outdoor facilities and all private residential pools that are used for public hire.

Please be assured that we are doing all that we can to help our STA family through this, and as soon as we are able to issue guidance that is backed by fact from Public Health England, we will do.

On behalf of the team here, please may I also take this opportunity to say thank you to all our wonderful members and partners for their continued support.

Kindest Regards,

Dave Candler

Thursday 9th April

Hi Everyone hope you are all safe and well.

As the lockdown continues all of us here are staying focused and counting the days until we can return to our lessons and some normality.

As I am sure you will all agree this is not the Easter we expected back in January during those cold dark rainy nights !!.

As we approach Easter I would like to send my best wishes to everyone, please stay safe and well and we will see you all very soon.

Thursday 19th March

Personal Message from Barrie:

I am absolutely overwhelmed and touched by all of your kind comments and well wishes regarding the closing of both our sites. I will be keeping in contact with everyone here and I can report that all of our staff are remaining upbeat and ready to get back up and running as soon as possible – wishing you all well in these very testing times – stay safe

Tuesday 17th March

In the light of these closures no swimming lessons will take place until the sites are re-opened and declared safe to use.
Updates regarding the re-opening and resuming of lessons will be posted here.  May we take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support in what are very concerning times.
